It offers a 13-week curriculum to help struggling students catch up and supports children's progress in school by focusing on literacy and social-emotional learning through play-based methods. This two-year project, starting in April 2022, has reached 3,600 learners in grades 3 to 5. It provides remedial education, child protection support for at-risk children, and cash and voucher assistance for economically vulnerable families. | SCI_Malawi_Country_Office_ 2022_Anticipatory_Brief | We take pride in our capacity and proven record of accomplishment for early action in times of crisis. In the face of the 2021/22 dry spells, when communities were grappling with the threat of food scarcity, Save the Children demonstrated its effectiveness by reaching out to over 3,000 individuals with a critical cash transfer component. This proactive approach enabled households to procure maize at a time when prices were more affordable, ultimately sparing them from the financial strain of inflated costs.

| INGO Consortium Resilience Study Report_2018_Final.pdf | In response to the food insecurity challenge in Malawi in 2016/17, Save the Children led a consortium of International NGOs (INGOs) Concern World Wide, Oxfam UK, and United Purpose in implementing an Emergency Cash Transfer Programme following the El Niño induced drought. This action was funded by DFID. The intervention package also included additional asset and resilience building activities for a sub-set of the beneficiaries. The aim of the resilience activities was to improve household productive capacity, reduce negative coping strategies and increase the household asset base.
