Save the Children in conjunction with various civil society organisations under the Malawi Health Equity Network (MHEN) courted the parliamentary health committee on the need to ensure that Health Surveillance Assistants (HSAs) reside in their catchment areas. 

Speaking during the interface in Thyolo district, Grassroots Public Health (GRAPH) Director, Peter Kayenda, bemoaned the absence of HSAs in their catchment areas.

Save the Children’s, Saving New Born Lives initiative recently organised a media workshop on maternal newborn and child health reporting in Salima.

No one can deny the joy that is bestowed upon a family when they receive a newborn baby. Innately, parents want to provide the best for their children. In dreaming about a child’s future, a parent considers things such as education, health and other social services having to be in place in order to make that child’s life adequate. But for some families, ones based in remote areas particularly, where access and provision of these services depends on the government, sometimes such dreams can vanish instantly.

On 12^th October 2014, Save the Children reaffirmed its commitment towards the welfare of mothers and under-five children when it donated items worth MK3.75 million in Mangochi district during this year’s Mothers’ Day Fun Run event, an annual event organised by Nation Publications Limited.

Speaking during the ceremony, Richard Luhanga, Facility Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH) Specialist for Save the Children, reaffirmed the commitment Save the Children has towards mothers.
